Today’s piece, titled four voices on “when I die…” is presented as an audio recording and is a follow up to last week’s essay on “belonging and burials” in which I reflected on my experience with death and came to a resolution on how I’d want my own death handled.
I reached out to four people—family and friends— to see how they would answer the question “Where do you want to be buried?” You will hear one man and three women, aged in their 40s to 60s.
In conducting these interviews, I was curious to see to what extent one’s sense of home or belonging would come into play when answering the question.
Two of the interviews were conducted in person and two over the phone.
Have a listen.
